Once the Oman International Shrimp Company SAOC proved out its pilot phase, emphasizing low environmental impact shrimp culture, DevCorp International decided to capitalize on the knowledge gained from its association with Sea Farms International (one of the largest integrated shrimp farming operations in the world) and its specific experience in the high salinity, high temperature oceanographic environment and subkha soils characteristic of coastal areas in Oman.  DevCorp formed Aqua Farms Corporation B.S.C. (c) with private investors to identify, develop, finance, invest in, and implement aquaculture projects in the region.  With the marine resources of both the Arabian Gulf and the Red Sea available to them, countries within the region can productively invest in numerous projects to produce protein foods for people and for animals, additives for foods and cosmetics, and goods used in the growing field of nutraceuticals.

In addition to being the primary promoter and developer of Arabian Shrimp Company, Aqua Farms holds a 40% equity stake.  Aqua Farms is also developing several other aquaculture-related projects in Saudi Arabia in cooperation with the Arab Authority for Agriculture Investment and Development and the Saudi Offset Limited Partnership (SOLP).
