order to define the requirements of the feasibility for this project and to
define the best type of partner.

feedstock and investigation into potential European technology partners has
begun.

And Slaked Lime And Mortar Project
This project coordinates the mining of raw limestone, widely available in the Kingdom, with the construction of one horizontal kiln and a specific hydration system suitable for the production of lime and mortar. During the first phase, the project will produce up to 30,000 tons per year of lime dedicated to various industries (food, chemical, and painting) and construction . The plant will also produce mortar with physical characteristics similar to those of Portland cement which offers added decorative value and a high degree of thermal insulation to building projects. As of 2005, the Kingdom is producing lime products, but, in the coming construction build-up, will have to import them unless they can be locally supplied. A possible phase two expansion will grow in conjunction with the Saudi demand, which is linked to population growth.
Meetings have been
held with the Saudi Geological Survey (SGS), which has the capacity to locate
suitably sized limestone deposits with the correct specifications for the
building trade. Initial inquiries
have been made on costs of the kilns and mining equipment; discussions have been
held with the French Federation of Lime Producers; contact with possible
technical partners and Spanish and Saudi universities has been made.
